Academic Mentor

Part-Time - Remote (U.S.) / Onsite / Hybrid (Austin, TX)

About the program

Public schools optimize for systems, not students. One-size-fits-all learning. No personalization. No real life-skill training. Minimal ownership. Minimal agency.

YEON exists to change that.

We build personalized learning paths, develop real-world skills, and prepare students not just for school and college—but for life. Elementary through high school is our training ground.

Our end goal is an alternative school model that actually works.

We're looking for interns and teachers who want to build the future of learning.

Location

11211 Taylor Draper Ln, Austin, 78759

About the role

We are looking for an academic mentor to join our team and help drive our growth. As an academic mentor, you will play a critical and active role in teaching students ranging from elementary to high school and experiencing the day-to-day operation of an early startup.

Our mission is to revolutionize the current education system by helping students learn proactively and obtain valuable life skills.

**Our culture:** We promote a horizontal structure across the organization with positive vibes. Everyone deserves to share their thoughts. We are willing to listen to as much feedback as we can as we constantly make iterations to improve our products. We highly value meritocracy, which is why we will generously reward individuals who can bring results and grow with us.

**Benefits:** Flexible work schedule (remote or in-person), free use of our office space for studying and printing, hybrid option for Austin-based networking events.

**Interview Process:** Application → Online Interview (~30 min) → Mock Teaching Session (~30 min). You may choose two topics you are most confident with (e.g., Mole Conversion - Chemistry, Supply/Demand - Economics).

**Software Tools (preferred):** Notion, Slack, Google Workspace (Calendar, Meet, Doc, Spreadsheet, etc.)
