Sample Lessons
A YEON instructor is a subject teacher —
and a senior who walked the same path.
Because they have built real expertise in the fields students care about, they see past the coursework to the whole of high-school life. We call this a lasting bond.
Academics
Concepts and test strategy, explained at the student’s eye level — by someone who has passed that same test with a high score.
Path
Students hear about colleges, majors, and the careers beyond them from someone who has actually walked that road. It is information no search can give.
Relationship
They become someone a student can talk to like a close older sibling. That relationship is what keeps students moving.
Every instructor passes four stages.
Application Review
We look at high-school and college GPA, SAT® and AP® scores, and teaching experience together — plus career achievements and where the candidate is headed next. From the very first step, we check whether they can help a student beyond academics, in path and in life.
Character Interview
The questions are built to surface what an application cannot. This is the stage where we look past scores and résumés to understand the person, so personality and disposition weigh heavily. We check whether they fit YEON’s standard of putting the relationship with the student first.
Scenario Interview
We ask how they would respond to the unexpected situations that come up in real teaching — whether they can find the most fitting solution for a concrete case and apply it.
Mock-Lesson Evaluation
On a topic agreed in advance from their subject, candidates teach for 15–20 minutes in a real class format, Q&A included. Subject knowledge matters — but so does how smoothly they carry the lesson and whether they can explain at the student’s eye level.
